16th February

The beginning of the Celebrations of the Carnival 2007 takes place at 9:00 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura.  There will be a presentation of the poster and official program of events.  An opening speech will be made by Don Salvador Perez Gonzalez, who is the History Professor of secondary teaching in the  Fountain of Lucena, Alhaurin el Grande who will talk on “The origins of the Carnival Alhaurino”.  A performance of the child alhaurina puppet show “Airs of Peace” by Ignacia Lopez Soriano.

18th February

12:00 p.m. at the Cine San Francisco: The Children's Carnival with performances by clowns from the television show “The Worthless Fellows” and featuring performance of  clowns and puppets, workshops of ballon making, make up, etc.

19th February

9:00 .p.m. Cine San Francisco : First Semi final of clowns, puppets and quartets “Villa of Alhaurin el Grande.

20th February

9:00 p.m. Cine San Francisco : Second Semi final of group singing contests.

21th February

9:00 p.m. Cine San Francisco : Third Semi Final of group singing contests

22 February

5:00 p.m. Cine San Francisco : Traditional encounter of children groups.  At 9:00 p.m. in the Cine San Francisco : Fourth Semifinal of group singing contests.  The presentation of large baskets to the semi finalists by humorist Morta from Malaga.

23 February

9:00 p.m. Cine San Francisco :  Performance of the Child Alhaurina Puppet Show “Airs of  Peace”.    A tribute to Don Jose Luis Santos Albarracin for his work on the planning of the carnival.  Presentation of Town Crier for this carnival by Dona Rosa Maria Garcia Rueda, previous Town Crier, Carnival 2006.  Announcement by Town Crier of Carnival 2007 Don Jose Luque Garcia.  Performance by the “jestors” of Cadiz “The Rejoiced.

24th February

9:00 p.m. Cine San Francisco : 19th Grand Final of Clowns, Puppets and Quartets “Villa Alhaurin El Grande”

26th February

Setting up Carnival site in the College Emilia Olivares

27th February

6:00 p.m Casa de la Cultura : Children's Theatre “In looking for the treasure” (for 5 to 11 years of age). 9.30 p.m. in the  Peña Flamenca “The hargaijo”  Performance of local groups.  Entry is free.

1st March

7 p.m. Casa de la Cultura : Popcorn Cinema. Starting with 12 years.

2nd March

9:00 p.m. Peña Union Flamenca Alhaurina : Performance by local groups.  Entry is free.

3rd March

Young Person’s Carnival.  Fancy Dress in collaboration with the local bars.  Performances by groups in local bars.   Fancy Dress contest with drawing of  trips to Warner’s Madrid during the weekend for those in costume.

4th March

5:00 p.m. Carnival Cavalcade and burial of the sardines through the local streets on the following route,  leaving Plaza Baja, Calle San Sebastian, Calle Piedras, Plaza Alta, Calle Cruz, Calle Real, Calle San Sebastian and returning toPlaza Baja.

6.30 p.m. in the the Plaza Baja, prizes are given to the winners of the contest of Fancy Dress.

Performances by the group winners of the song contest.  Tasting of dougnuts and drinking of hot chocolate are typical of this day.  The traditional burning of the sardines will bring to an end the Festivities of Carnival 2007.
