Royal British Legion Inter-Branch Quiz
Alhaurin de la Torre Royal British Legion organised this year’s very successful Inter-Branch quiz, which took place at the Albatross Restaurant on 14th May. During the evening several branches competed for the Mike Taylor Trophy. After some very testing questions the Coin RBL A Team won the competition by the closest of margins, and Jo Taylor accepted the coveted trophy on behalf of the Branch.
There was cause for further celebrations for Coin Branch when its B team won first prize in the Open section and each participant was rewarded with a bottle of fine wine. Chairman, Jo Taylor, congratulated both teams and would also like to express her thanks to Alhaurin de la Torre Branch for arranging such an enjoyable evening which included supper.

Saturday 17th May -Diner's group day out. Meet at La Trocha at 10am to drive to Ardales/ El Chorro area for a Discovery Tour around the area, go for a walk, have lunch. For further information Tel: Jo 952 451 671.
Wednesday 21st May- Social Meeting at El Palomar Hotel from 11.00 am. A Beetle Drive will be organized. Cut off date for tickets for trip to Selwo on 6 June- details to follow.
Friday 23rd May – Ladies Lunch, bring a plate of food & drinks. This event to be hosted by David and Carol Bailey at their beautiful home in Guaro from 13.00 onwards. 3€ per person. Telephone 952 112 899 for further information and directions.
Wednesday 28th May- Day trip to Rute, calling at the Anise factory, Jamon museum, Chocolate factory and a stop at Lake Inzajar. Lunch at local restaurant. Depart La Trocha 8.30, return La Trocha 7p.m. Tickets (coach only) 13€ members, 15€ non-members from Wendy. Tel: 952 453 829.

Monday 9th June – Evening Cinema trip to Plaza Mayor, car sharing. Film not established as yet, cost in the region of 7€.
Wednesday 11th June – Photo/games group to meet at El Palomar Hotel. Photographers to bring 3 pictures for group critique. John Jackson is now leading the photography group; further details from John on 952455213 or johneileen@anit.es, a list of future topics to be covered are on the RBL web site.
Wednesday 18th June – Social Meeting, El Palomar Hotel. Paddy O’Farrell will be signing copies of his new book ‘Primrose Cottage’. There will also be a Bingo session.
Tuesday 24th June – Dining group to meet for an evening meal at Muntaz Muhal Indian restaurant, El Rodeo, Coin 19.30.
Thursday 26th June – Royal British Legion, District South Veterans Day Celebration from 12.30 to 19.00 at ‘Puerta Niza’, Benajarafe. This will be a cold buffet for 30€ per person and will include: half a bottle of red or white wine per person, jug of beer per table, water, lively entertainment & music. All branch standards will be on parade and there will be a grand raffle with all profits going to the Poppy Appeal. Dress is casual – use of the swimming pool.
